National Lobster Day 2026

September 25 All day

Celebrate all things lobster – and help protect their future

This National Lobster Day, join The National Lobster Hatchery in celebrating one of Cornwall’s most iconic marine species and the people working to protect its future.

From tiny hatchlings in the Hatchery to wild lobsters living on the seabed, every lobster has a story to tell. National Lobster Day is a chance to discover more about these fascinating animals, learn about the challenges facing our marine environment and find out how conservation, research, education and sustainable fisheries can help safeguard our seas for generations to come.

Small lobster. Big impact.

The European lobster is an important part of Cornwall’s marine environment, fishing heritage and coastal economy. But like many commercially important marine species, lobster populations face pressures from fishing, environmental change and a changing ocean.

For more than 25 years, The National Lobster Hatchery has been pioneering practical conservation alongside the fishing community. By carefully rearing juvenile lobsters and releasing them into the wild, the Hatchery helps support local lobster stocks while also contributing to research into the science behind stock enhancement.

National Lobster Day is an opportunity to celebrate that work – and the many people who make it possible.

What’s happening?

Be part of the bigger picture

National Lobster Day is not just about celebrating lobsters. It is about recognising the connection between healthy oceans, thriving marine life, sustainable fisheries and the coastal communities that depend on them.
