Solstice Photography Exhibition

Celebrate the seasons and explore the fascinating relationship between moon, tide and lobster through this exhibition of a 6-year project  by photographer Mat Arney.

“For the last five years, I have been making “surfscape” images at my local beach at the minute of sunrise and sunset on the summer and winter solstices.

I use long exposures and intentional camera movement techniques to create painterly images that blur the beach, the waves, and the clouds. The results capture the atmosphere and feeling on these key dates in our cycle of seasons.”

The exhibition runs from September 25th 2026 until March 2027 and is included with admission to the Hatchery Visitor Centre.
