Baby Lobster Boom! This May Half-Term
May 23 – May 31
This May half term, discover pioneering marine conservation in action at The National Lobster Hatchery during the height of the Baby Lobster Boom!
Come and meet our latest arrivals, learn more about lobsters, other marine life babies and enjoy a peak into the busy season at the hatchery.
Families can enjoy hands-on activities, competitions and a Lobster Trail throughout the week, alongside the chance to explore marine conservation in action. Located on Padstow’s beautiful harbour, the hatchery is dog friendly and perfectly placed for local walks, cycles, cafés, and a full day out with a difference.
Have we peaked your curiosity? Go behind the scenes at The National Lobster Hatchery with a Meet the Expert Tour this week. Discover how baby lobsters are reared through their most vulnerable stages and gain exclusive insight into pioneering marine conservation work in Cornwall.
We are excited to be preparing for a Public Baby Lobster Release, taking place at Little Fistral Beach, in Newquay on Wednesday 27th May at 9.30am, and hosted by our friends at Newquay Beach Care. This offers a rare opportunity to get hands on as juvenile lobsters are returned to the wild.
“…each day we can see up to 5,000 baby lobsters born”
Open every day 10am – 4pm
