Celebrating 25 years in 2025
In the year of 2025 we look forward to sharing stories from our people, images from the archive and ample opportunities to get involved and celebrate with the team; including the hotly anticipated ‘Releaseathon’.
As we begin to reflect Founder Eddy Derriman shared “Reaching the 25th anniversary the National Lobster Hatchery is testament to the incredible commitment and hard work of all the staff, volunteers and Board of Trustees, past and present, over the last two and a half decades. The Charity’s journey has been far from easy, but central to its work has been the production of baby lobsters every year since 2000 for release into the sea, often produced and released against all the odds. I am hoping the NLH can continue its work for many decades into the future, further expanding our knowledge of the species and contributing to the wild stock of lobsters around our coasts.”

There is simply no way the charity would be where it is today without the PEOPLE that support, donate, partner, champion and work for the organisation. We will be sharing their stories with you throughout the year for a special look at what makes The NLH so special.
In our Twenty Fifth year we have set ourselves a challenge!! To celebrate our work over the last two and a half decades, we are going to attempt 25 baby lobster releases, in 25 different locations in just 25 days!
From the Isles of Scilly to the North Cornish Coast and back again we are releasing our babies all around the coast of our beautiful County. Roping in friends and supporters along the way from all corners of Cornwall, we cannot wait to highlight our work and share updates with you via our social media channels.
To align boats, dive teams, fisherman friends, staff, volunteers, tides, baby lobster production and the weather is no mean feat! All might have to changed around at the drop of a hat if Mother Nature is not on our side.. Scheduled start date 19th May 2025, St Marys IOS
